It's only May 11th
It would be very easy to write off the Buccos right now, having lost 8 in a row, and 12 of the last 13. They've easily been the worst team in MLB these last 2 weeks, as they can't hit, and can't hold a lead or a quality start. And at first glance, facing the 20-12 first place Cardinals next looks even more depressing. But this is a team that badly needs a day off (got it today), is set to return home for a spell (next 6 games), and have ZaDuke going tomorrow (assuming PooHoles doesn't see a fastball down the middle). Plus Captain Jack and Capps could be back real soon. Manager John Russell's got to be feeling his job's a bit on the ropes right now, and he could probably stand to chew a few guys out and try and motivate a supposed confident club that's playing very poorly right now. Remember in February, when he heard him say this?
It's time for us as an organization to realize that losing is not acceptable.
It's not an acceptable way of life for a Pirate.
