Pitching ....
A nice 3 day weekend in Cincinnati all things considered. It’s nice to be able to watch the games, since I get the Fox Sports Ohio feed. Although last night going into the bottom of the first, it was painful to hear all the praise the Cincy guys were giving JVB for being a “top prospect and at least a 5-6 hitter” ..... unfortunately, he showed them what we already knew. And of course, now we know why Capps is blowing saves. This should put more pressure on an already beleaguered pitching staff. I think baseball’s best outfield, and fifth best offense is going to have to step up even further to try and build some leads. One question: Does the Pearce callup (link) portend a certain RF’s trade? Probably not, just yet. Snell and Dumatrait are on their way back next week, so Pearce is probably just for the weekend. Wonder if he’ll get any playing time with LaRoche finally hitting, and a jammed up OF? I don’t get that. But then again, there are no pitchers to call up .... what about Freddy Garcia? Seriously! Let's get some pitchers!
Surprise, surprise ...... three lefties starting at Milwaukee this weekend. Go Buccos!

Washington?
Really? Lost 3 of 4 to the Washington Nationals? Ugh. But, at least the Buccos still are not in last place .... barely. That's looking more and more like the battle to keep an eye on (Go Cubbies!). 82 is looking dimmer by the day. Another small nugget of good news is the matchups below for the next series don't include Tim Lincecum. Or Snell the way he's pitching as of late ...
Let's get some home cookin' goin' ... gotta nice stretch here with Atlanta next!
Tuesday: SF: J. Sánchez (2-1, 3.48) PIT: Z. Duke (0-2, 4.79)
Wednesday: SF: P. Misch (0-0, 5.40) PIT: P. Dumatrait (0-1, 4.74)
Thursday: SF: M. Cain (1-2, 4.08) PIT: P. Maholm (2-3, 4.58)

Struggles v Cubs

Hey Pennsylvania, need a reason to vote for Obama tomorrow? This woman supports any team that beats the Pirates. She had no soul. So at least Nate's still tearing it up, that's something, right? But they keep booting the ball all over the place. It's time for a little refresher on how to catch and throw. How about some fundamentals? This team isn't that bad. Really. Famous last words. GO BUCCOS!

Ugh.
Well, that was a particularly uninspiring end to the Chavez Latrine visit. At least keep those games close so Torre can mismanage them! The question I'm interested in: what happens first, Nate doesn't get a hit, or the Pirates don't commit an error?
So a day off before trying to exact some revenge for an earlier April sweep against the Cubs. Can Ian stop the bleeding? Something about 2 lefties going on the weekend in Wrigley makes me nervous though. Thankfully the baby bears are without Alfonso.
