AL East Predictions

1. Boston Red Sox
2. Toronto Blue Jays
3. New York Yankees
4. Tampa Bay Rays
5. Baltimore Orioles

For the better part of a decade at least, this division has been the Yankees, Red Sox and everyone else.  Baltimore hasn't been relevant since Jeffrey Maier, Toronto since Joe Carter, or Tampa since, well Carl Crawford I suppose.  But this year could shape up to be much different.  Boston still looks like the favorite with their starting pitching depth, and the additions of Adrian Gonzalez and Crawford.  They should end up winning the division by a pretty decent margin.  The Blue Jays could surprise a lot of folks with their good young pitchers, and a decent lineup.  I think second and third place will be very close, but I give the edge to Toronto because of the Yankees glaring holes in the rotation.  The Rays are good, but losing Crawford, Carlos Pena, Matt Garza and Rafael Soriano is too much for any team.  Baltimore is on the right track, but have too many weaknesses to compete for 6 months with the others.
