Now this is a crucial stretch for the Pirates. If they can just not get swept by the cardinals (not exactly a team on fire) then its a nice rest for the pitching staff before playing 14 straight games against 3 inferior teams the likes of the rockies, astros and padres. Of course I'm naive to the Pirate ways of the past (but I do know of beantown June swoons), but realistically they could hit 54-54 before taking on the Cubs August 1. Actually, now is the time to cushion up, because the August schedule looks brutal with 22 games vs teams with .500 records, with only 6 games with sub .500 clubs (at diamondbacks, home vs reds) ... wow. At least September looks better with 16 home games ... the last 6 games of the year, at PNC, could be the run for 82!
My wonderful wife got me a Clemente jersey for my birthday. You had better believe when I'm not rebuilding the basement, I will be rocking that the rest of the summer. Let's not forget about the Snell photo now perma-posted at the bottom of this page.
P is for Pride!
