Phils take Round 1

Well one out of three ain't bad I guess. While the news should be Maholm's 2 hitter, it's really the 11 million dollar check the Pirates just signed. While it's a lot of money for the team to write off the books, it's well spent. Matt simply didn't have it, and he probably never was going to right the ship enough to get any decent value for his contract. Hopefully VanB has a little more success than last year (0-7 10.15era) ... he's actually shown some progress in Indy. What is it about MAC players? Bullington is just awful. I saw him pitch last Wednesday, and he stunk up the joint for sure. Thankfully Nate's breaking out of his mini slump, and maybe (just maybe) Laroche is warming up. Because now comes a visit to Shea. Maybe they can bring a little Penguins mojo with them (also visiting New York, hmmm) ... Here are the matchups: Monday Snell v Santana Tuesday Gorzo v Perez Wednesday Duke v Pelfrey It has suddenly occured to me that I have a lot to learn about NL ball. I have never heard of Pelfrey, but looking at his stats ... not so scary. God I hate the Mets, always have. Must be a New York thing. Monday and Wednesday are winnable, Tuesday not so much. The Buccos might just end the month 12-16? Wouldn't be too awful I suppose.
